Cirsium tuberosum is a native, herbaceous plant in Great Britain, reaching around half a metre in height. Its broad, undivided leaves are carried on unwooded stems. The species prefers full sun and fresh, moderately moist sites on calcareous, nutrient-poor ground. It occurs under moderately warm conditions and typically in places with little disturbance. Flower heads are produced in July and August. The plant forms arbuscular mycorrhizal associations.
