Cotoneaster franchetii is a woody, broad-leaved shrub typically growing to around 3.1 m in height. The broad leaves have an average individual area of approximately 933 mm². Flowering takes place in June; the flowers supply both nectar and pollen, which attract insects. The mean diaspore mass is about 12.8 mg. Originating from temperate Asia and China, the species is an established introduced plant in Great Britain.
