Prefers sunny locations with fresh, moderately moist, normal soil. Tolerates neutral to slightly acidic pH and average fertility. The species naturally associates with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.
Daucus carota is a terrestrial, non-woody, broad-leaved plant in the carrot family (Apiaceae). It reaches a height of around 0.42 metres, with an average leaf area of about 1057 mm². The diaspores are light, weighing approximately 1.06 mg. This native species is found in full sun and favours fresh, moderately moist soils that are neutral to slightly acidic and of medium nutrient status. Arbuscular mycorrhizal associations are formed. The plant’s conservation status is not threatened (Red List *), and it is considered safe around children.
