Provide a shaded location with consistently moist, humus-rich soil that is neutral to slightly acidic. Once established the plant requires little attention.
Galium odoratum is a herbaceous, non-woody plant with broad leaves. Native in Great Britain, it typically grows in shaded, moist habitats such as woodland floors. The plant reaches a height of about 27 cm and blooms from April to June. Ellenberg indicator values suggest it prefers shady conditions, fresh moisture, moderately warm temperatures, and neutral to slightly acidic soils of medium nutrient status. It tolerates low levels of disturbance and is classified as least concern on the Red List.
