Kickxia spuria is an herbaceous, broad-leaved plant reaching about 23 centimetres in height. An archaeophyte in Great Britain, it occurs naturally across Europe, Africa and temperate Asia. It thrives in full sun on moderately moist, calcareous to basic soils of average fertility and has no salt tolerance. The species is associated with low-disturbance sites and forms arbuscular mycorrhizal relationships. Its flowering period extends from July to October. The leaves are broad, with an average leaf area of 1102 mm², and the dry diaspore mass is approximately 0.37 mg.
