Grow Lysimachia vulgaris in moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade. It is suited to damp borders, pond margins or bog gardens. Water regularly during dry spells; no other special maintenance is needed. The plant dies back over winter and re-sprouts in spring.

Lysimachia vulgaris is a non-woody, broad-leaved perennial herb reaching approximately 0.7 metres tall. It is native in Great Britain and occurs in wet meadows, marshes and woodland edges, typically on moist, neutral to weakly acidic soils of moderate nutrient status. It is found in partial shade and tolerates low levels of disturbance. It forms arbuscular mycorrhizal associations and flowers from June to August. Seed mass averages 0.28 milligrams and leaf area is about 1922 square millimetres.
