About this species
Malva neglecta is an archaeophyte herbaceous plant long established in Great Britain, present since at least 1500. It favours sunny sites with moist, nutrient-rich, calcareous soils and bears broad leaves. Flowering lasts from June to October, giving a long season of interest.

In Great Britain it is an established archaeophyte, recorded since at least 1500. It occurs across Europe, Southwestern and Southeastern Europe, and temperate to tropical Asia. The species grows best in full sun on fresh, nutrient-rich, often calcareous soils; it shows little tolerance of salinity and a preference for sites with only low disturbance. Flowering begins in June and continues until October.
