Grows best in a sunny position with moist, fertile, calcareous soil. No special care is required once established.
Petasites hybridus is native in Great Britain, where it grows in damp, fertile habitats such as riverbanks, stream sides and wet meadows. This herbaceous perennial thrives in full sun and prefers moist to wet, alkaline, nutrient-rich soils. It typically reaches a height of 40–45 cm and produces very broad leaves that can span an area of around 1380 cm². The plant is associated with sites experiencing little disturbance and moderately warm conditions.
