Platyrhinus resinosus is a beetle in the family Anthribidae. Adults reach a body length of approximately 12 millimetres and weigh around 0.09 grams. The body is relatively broad, with a width of 4.3 millimetres and a height of 3.2 millimetres, giving a rounded outline. The elytra are 6.7 millimetres long, while the transparent flight wings span roughly 10.7 millimetres, yielding a wing loading of 2.6 and an aspect ratio of 2.65. The head measures 3.3 millimetres in length and 2.6 millimetres in width, with eyes covering 0.35 square millimetres. The mandibles are long at 1.3 millimetres, tapering to a proximal width of 0.18 millimetres. The antennae are short, about 2.1 millimetres. The beetle is conspicuously hairy: hairiness scores reach 57.4 on the dorsal head, 64.7 on the dorsal abdomen, and 59.7 on the ventral abdomen, while the pronotum is somewhat less hairy at 37.3; the overall hairiness is 54.8. Its colouration is light, with a measured lightness value of 100.6. There is no evidence of sexual dimorphism.
