Sitta canadensis is an omnivorous bird belonging to the family Sittidae. Adult body mass averages 10.35 g and the wingspan is approximately 6.64 cm. Its diet comprises roughly equal proportions of seeds and invertebrates. Breeding occurs once a year, with a clutch of six eggs. Incubation lasts 12 days and the young fledge at about 19.5 days of age. The maximum recorded lifespan is 7.5 years. In Great Britain, the species is listed on the United Kingdom Species Inventory with an indeterminate presence status, and there is no current evidence that it is an introduced or established breeding species.
