Solanum dulcamara is a non-woody, broad-leaved climbing plant native in Great Britain. It reaches a height of about one metre and produces leaves with an area of around 1400 mm². The plant prefers semi-shaded positions with moderately moist, nutrient-rich soil. It flowers from May to August. The species tolerates full sun to semi-shade and moist conditions, and it grows on neutral to weakly acidic substrates. It is classified as a terrestrial climber with low disturbance tolerance. The diaspore mass is approximately 1.5 mg. On the British Red List it is noted as * (least concern).
