Viscum album is a woody, evergreen shrub belonging to the family Viscaceae. It is hemiparasitic, obtaining water and dissolved minerals from its host while photosynthesising through its own broad leaves. The plant typically reaches a height of around 0.37 metres and bears leaves with a mean area of about 615 mm². Flowering takes place between March and April. The species occupies partially shaded situations and shows a preference for warm conditions. In Great Britain it is native.
