Abies grandis is a large evergreen tree, attaining heights of over 54 metres. It has woody, needle-like leaves and an average leaf area of 180 mm². The tree is terrestrial in habit and produces diaspores weighing about 17.6 mg. Flowering occurs in May. In Great Britain it is an introduced species, now established.
