Anchusa officinalis is an introduced and established member of the Boraginaceae family in Great Britain. It is a non-woody, terrestrial herb with broad leaves, typically growing to around 0.5 m in height. The flowering period extends from May to August. The plant favours sunny positions on fresh, moderately moist, calcareous to basic soils with moderate nutrient levels. It is warmth-loving and associated with habitats that experience relatively low disturbance. Diaspore mass averages 5.4 mg.
