Avena sativa is an introduced, established grass species in Great Britain. It typically grows to a height of about 0.96 metres, with a non-woody, terrestrial habit and broad leaves. The leaf area averages 4344.5 mm². Its diaspores have a mass of around 32 mg. Flowering occurs from June through August, during which it supplies pollen and nectar at moderate levels. The plant belongs to the grass family (Poaceae).
