The plant is introduced and established in Great Britain; it originates from Europe and temperate Asia. Flowering takes place from April to June. It forms arbuscular mycorrhizal associations and grows in full sun on fresh, moderately moist soils with a neutral to slightly acid reaction and medium nutrient levels.
