Brachypodium pinnatum is a perennial, non-woody grass native in Great Britain. The foliage is broad-leaved, and the plant typically attains a height around 0.5 metres. Flowering occurs in June. The species is terrestrial and adapts to partial shade with fresh, moderately moist soil of normal fertility. It is regarded as indigenous or an archaeophyte and is not currently threatened.
