Grow in full sun in a well-drained, calcareous soil that remains moderately moist. This plant is suited to a wildflower meadow or a gravel garden where it can naturalise.
Bunium bulbocastanum is a native herbaceous perennial in Great Britain, reaching about 36 cm in height. It bears broad leaves on non-woody stems. The plant occurs in full sun on fresh, moderately moist, calcareous soils, typically in moderately nutrient-poor fresh meadows and as a component of arable weed communities. Umbels of tiny flowers appear in June and July. Small diaspores, weighing around 1.4 mg, are produced after flowering. It is listed as Red List status 3 in the relevant national assessment.
