Grow in partial shade, in moisture-retentive, fertile, calcareous soil. Suitable for a woodland garden or a shaded border. Provide consistent moisture through the growing season, and cut back foliage in autumn after dieback.
Campanula latifolia is a herbaceous perennial reaching up to 75 cm in height. It bears broad, non-woody leaves and produces its characteristic bell-shaped flowers during July. The plant is native in Great Britain and typically associates with calcareous beech and mixed deciduous woodlands, where it thrives in semi-shaded, moderately moist conditions on nutrient-rich, basic soils. It shows a preference for low-disturbance sites and moderately warm temperatures. The diaspores are small, weighing approximately 0.28 mg.
