Grow in partial to full shade in a moist but well-drained soil of normal fertility, neutral to slightly acid pH. Avoid exposed, dry sites.
Carex remota is a native sedge of woodland floors and shady, moist places. It forms loose tufts of broad, arching leaves and typically reaches around 40 cm in height. The flowering stems appear from June to July, bearing small, greenish-brown spikelets. This species prefers shaded conditions, fresh to moderately moist soils of average fertility, and a neutral to slightly acidic reaction. It tolerates only low levels of disturbance.
