Grow in full sun in well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Tolerates dry conditions once established. Suitable for open, sunny borders and naturalistic plantings.
Crepis tectorum is a non-woody, broad-leaved herbaceous plant that has become introduced and established in Great Britain. Mature plants reach an average height of about 21 cm. The leaves are broad, with a mean area of around 110 mm², and the very small seeds (diaspores) weigh approximately 0.4 mg. The plant forms arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) associations. It thrives in full sun and is typical of dry habitats, although Ellenberg indicator values suggest it can also occupy moderately moist soils. Soil reaction is neutral to slightly acidic, and nutrient levels are medium. Temperature preference is moderately warm, and the species is associated with low disturbance. Flowering extends from May to October.
