Drosera intermedia is a native, carnivorous perennial found in acidic, nutrient-poor wetlands. Growing to about 6 cm tall, it produces broad, sticky leaves that capture small insects to supplement the meagre nutrient supply of its habitat. The plant thrives in full sun and very moist, acid soils, and shows low tolerance of disturbance. Flowering occurs in July and August, and the minute seeds (diaspore mass ~0.02 mg) are wind-dispersed. Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are associated with its roots.
