Fragaria vesca is a native wild strawberry. It is a herbaceous, broad-leaved plant that remains non-woody. Individual plants typically reach about 11 centimetres in height. The species is found in sunny sites with fresh, moderately moist, calcareous soils and generally experiences low disturbance. Flowering can occur from March through to September. The diaspores are tiny, with a mass of around 0.4 milligrams.
