Plant in partial to full shade. Grow in moist but well-drained soil of average fertility, ideally with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Once established, the plant requires little disturbance. Flowering occurs in April and May.
Lathyrus vernus is a herbaceous, non-woody plant with broad leaves. It typically grows in shade and prefers fresh, moderately moist soils that are calcareous to neutral in reaction and of ordinary fertility. The plant reaches a height of around 27 cm and produces flowers from April to May. It tolerates low levels of disturbance.
