Puccinellia maritima is a perennial grass native in Great Britain. It forms low tufts of broad, non-woody leaves and typically reaches about 25 cm in height. Flowering occurs from June to September. The species is a halophyte, strongly salt-tolerant, and prefers full sun and moist, calcareous to basic soils. It grows in conditions with moderate nutrient supply and low disturbance, and is adapted to moderately warm temperatures.
