This herbaceous, non-woody plant bears broad leaves and can reach up to 65 cm in height. It flowers from June to October, prefers full sun, and thrives in moist, moderately fertile soils that are neutral to slightly acid. Its native range spans Europe, southwestern Europe, southeastern Europe, Africa and temperate Asia, and it is a native wild species in Great Britain.
