Blysmus rufus is a native sedge in Great Britain. It is a grass-like plant with broad leaves and a non-woody, terrestrial growth form. It reaches about 15 centimetres in height and produces flowers from May to July. The diaspores are light, weighing around 1.05 milligrams, and the leaf area is roughly 45.5 square millimetres. The species forms arbuscular mycorrhizal associations.
