In Great Britain Senecio viscosus is an introduced, established species. It is a herbaceous, non-woody plant growing to about 0.29 metres in height, with broad leaves. The plant typically occurs in full sun, on moderately moist, average soils. Ellenberg indicator values place it in sunny (light value 8), fresh (moisture value 4), neutral to slightly acid (reaction value 6) conditions with moderate nutrient levels (value 5) and low disturbance (severity 0.7). It is intolerant of salt. The plant forms arbuscular mycorrhizal associations. Flowering extends from June to October.
