Setaria italica is a terrestrial, non-woody grass with broad leaves, belonging to the sweet grass family (Poaceae). In Great Britain, it is an introduced, established species. The plant typically reaches a height of around 0.82 m, with a leaf area of approximately 5,638 mm². Its small seeds (diaspores) weigh about 2.24 mg. The flowering period extends from June to October.
