Prefers a partially shaded position and a moist, nutrient-rich soil. Sun is tolerated. Avoid saline soils.
Stellaria media is a member of the pink family (Caryophyllaceae) and is native in Great Britain. It is a herbaceous, non-woody plant with broad leaves, typically reaching about 0.15 m in height. The tiny white flowers can appear throughout the year. The species is classified as of Least Concern (Red List *). Ecological indicator values show an affinity for sunny to partially shaded sites, moist, nutrient-rich soils that are neutral to slightly acid, and habitats with relatively low disturbance. It does not tolerate salinity. Like many plants it forms arbuscular mycorrhizal associations.
