Symphyotrichum pilosum is an introduced species that has become established in Great Britain. It is a non-woody, broad-leaved herbaceous plant typically growing to around 0.88 metres tall. Flowers appear in December. The seeds are minute, with an average mass of 0.64 mg, and individual leaves have an area of approximately 315 mm².
