Trifolium pratense is a herbaceous perennial native in Great Britain. It typically reaches about 30 cm in height. The broad leaves are composed of three leaflets, often with a pale crescent marking. Dense, rounded flower heads appear from March to September. The plant prefers sunny sites with fresh, moderately moist soil of normal fertility. It is not tolerant of saline conditions and is associated with habitats experiencing low levels of disturbance. Growth is non-woody and terrestrial.
