Grow in full sun in wet to permanently moist soil. A neutral to alkaline, medium-fertility soil is suitable. Avoid saline or dry sites. This plant thrives in pond margins, bog gardens or consistently damp ground.
This herbaceous plant is native in Great Britain, typically found in wet, swampy ground. It reaches around 0.3 metres in height and bears broad leaves. The flowers appear from April through September. It favours full sun and permanently moist, alkaline soils, showing little tolerance of salinity. The species is adapted to aquatic and semi-aquatic conditions, colonising low-disturbance habitats such as stream margins and marshy areas.
