Ampedus sanguineus

Scientific profile

Ampedus sanguineus belongs to the click beetle family (Elateridae). Adults attain a body length of about 14.2 mm and a mass of approximately 0.08 g. The elytra are around 8.7 mm long, and the pronotum measures roughly 3.6 mm in width. The antennae extend to about 4.1 mm. Wing area is 32 mm², with a wing loading of 2.44 and an aspect ratio of 2.56. Colour lightness averages 111.6. Dorsally, the pronotum and abdomen bear a covering of setae (hairiness values 5.5 and 11.5, respectively), whereas the head dorsum and abdominal venter lack setae. The eyes are small (0.16 mm²), and the mandibles are short, each about 0.6 mm long with a slender proximal width of 0.09 mm.
