Adult Dryocoetes autographus have a body length between 3.7 and 3.9 mm and a mass of about 4.4 mg. The body is notably rounded (roundness index 0.97) with a width of 1.45 mm and height of 1.41 mm. The head is 0.98 mm wide and 0.69 mm long, bearing antennae measuring 0.67 mm. Eyes are 0.52 mm long with a total area of 0.075 mm². The pronotum is 1.40 mm long and 1.32 mm wide; elytra are 2.27 mm long. Wings are long and narrow, spanning 7.04 mm in length and 2.39 mm in width, giving an aspect ratio of 2.9 and a wing area of 14.1 mm², with a low wing loading of 0.31. The legs are relatively short: front femur 0.85 mm, mid femur 0.97 mm, hind femur 0.89 mm. Mandibles are 0.52 mm long and slender (aspect 0.36).
