Reseda lutea is a non-woody, broad-leaved herbaceous plant that reaches a height of around 0.4 metres. It favours full sun and dry, calcareous to moderately fertile soils, and shows low tolerance of disturbance. The flowers appear from May to August. It forms arbuscular mycorrhizal associations and has a diaspore mass of about 0.72 mg. The species is naturally distributed across Europe, North Africa and tropical Asia, but is not native in Great Britain.
