Scientific profile

This species belongs to the family Tenebrionidae. Adult body length is approximately 14 mm (mean from literature 14.0 mm; measured body length 13.79 mm) and body mass around 0.06 g. The pronotum measures 2.87 mm long by 3.74 mm wide, and the elytra are 9.55 mm long and 2.62 mm wide. Colour lightness is 101, indicating a pale appearance. Hairiness is largely confined to the ventral abdomen (score 7.64), with the head, pronotum and dorsal abdomen all hairless. Sexual dimorphism is absent (score 0). The wings are well developed: wing length 8.46 mm, wing area 23.38 mm², giving a wing load of 2.54 and aspect ratio of 2.27. Antennae reach 5.62 mm. Mandible length is 0.81 mm with an aspect of 0.60. Femora and tibiae measurements: front femur 2.63 mm, mid femur 3.11 mm, hind femur 3.84 mm; corresponding tibiae 2.61, 3.01 and 3.66 mm. Eye area is 0.33 mm². In Germany it is assessed as V (Vorwarnliste, near threatened) with a stable population trend.
