This native annual legume is a common component of many grassland communities. Its long flowering season extends from May to September, adding to the diversity of low-growing vegetation.
Seeds germinate in spring and plants develop rapidly. Flowering begins in May and continues through to September. After setting seed, the annual plant dies back in autumn, completing its life cycle.
The plant is not harmful to children.

Light: partial shade suits it best.
Water: keep the soil moderately moist.

As an annual, it will complete its life cycle in one season. Allowing some flowers to set seed encourages self-sowing for the following year.
Trifolium dubium is a low, annual herbaceous plant native to Great Britain. It has a prostrate or ascending growth form and typically reaches about 20 centimetres in height. The stems are slender and carry broad leaves divided into three oval leaflets. From May to September small heads of tiny yellow pea-flowers, each 3–3.5 millimetres long, are produced. This species grows in partial shade on moderately moist, normal soil. It is found in habitats with low disturbance and neutral to slightly acid conditions, and it does not tolerate salt. The plant is not threatened in the wild.
