An adult typically weighs about 57.5 grams and has a wingspan approaching 12.7 centimetres. The diet is dominated by invertebrates, which make up roughly 80 per cent of intake, with the remainder taken as seeds. Possible lifespan extends to around 11 years. Breeding output is a single clutch of four eggs each season. The eggs are incubated for approximately 20 days, and the chicks fledge at about 17 days of age.
