Hylobius abietis is a beetle belonging to the weevil family Curculionidae. It is recorded in Great Britain, though its status there is currently indeterminate. Adults have a body length of approximately 11 mm and a mass around 77 mg. The body is rounded (roundness 0.84) with a width of about 4.3 mm and a height of 3.6 mm. The pronotum is roughly 3.2 mm wide and 3.0 mm long. The head is about 1.9 mm wide and 3.5 mm long. The elytra measure 6.7 mm in length and 2.3 mm in width. The overall colour is light (lightness value 106), and the body surface is moderately hairy, with denser hairiness on the dorsal abdomen (hairs index 14.8) and less on the dorsal pronotum (9.0). The wings are about 18 mm long and 5.6 mm wide, with an area of 89 mm², resulting in a wing loading of 0.87. The mandibles are short (0.56 mm) with a low aspect ratio (0.48). The antennae measure 2.6 mm. The legs are proportioned, with hind femora 4.3 mm long and hind tibiae 3.2 mm. No sexual dimorphism is evident (dimorphism score 0.0).
