Uleiota planatus is a small beetle of the family Silvanidae. Adults reach a length of about 5 to 6 millimetres and weigh under five milligrams. The body is somewhat rounded, with a width of roughly 1.7 millimetres and a height near 1 millimetre. The antennae are remarkably long, extending over 5 millimetres and equalling the body length, a proportion reflected in their positive residual value. The cuticle is lightly coloured, and the dorsal surface bears a covering of fine hairs, particularly noticeable on the abdomen. The wings are relatively broad, giving a low wing loading of 0.725, which indicates flight capability. No sexual dimorphism is apparent. The species has been recorded in the United Kingdom according to the United Kingdom Species Inventory.
