Grows in partial shade and fresh (moderately moist) soils with medium nutrient levels. Tolerates neutral to slightly acid soil conditions.
Tilia cordata is a deciduous broad-leaved tree, typically reaching about 18.8 metres in height. Its leaves are relatively large, with a mean leaf area of around 2818 mm², and its diaspores (fruits) average 34.5 mg. It is a native species in Great Britain. The tree flowers in June and July. It is associated with half-shade conditions, fresh (moderately moist) soils, and a neutral to weakly acid reaction. Nutrient demand is medium, and it typically grows in sites with low disturbance severity. Its temperature preference is moderately warm.
