Anaspis frontalis

Anaspis frontalis is a small beetle with a body length around 4.9 mm (a mean of 3.4 mm is reported in literature) and a body mass of about 1.8 mg. The head is 0.86 mm wide, carrying eyes 0.44 mm long and covering an area of 0.10 mm². The antennae measure 1.5 mm. The pronotum is 0.88 mm long and 1.28 mm wide, and the body is moderately rounded (roundness 0.88). The elytra are 3.3 mm long and 0.80 mm wide. The wings are elongate, with an aspect ratio of 2.5 and a total area of 7.0 mm²; wing loading is low at 0.25. The overall colour is light, with a lightness value of 132.85 on a 0–255 scale. Hairiness is pronounced, particularly on the dorsal abdomen (84.5 hairs per unit area), the pronotum (72.9) and the ventral abdomen (65.4); total hairiness is 62.1. The legs are relatively slender: the mid femur is 1.07 mm long, the hind femur 1.03 mm. No sexual dimorphism is apparent (score 0).
